MY EXPERIENCE

I was invited for the launch & experiential review on the all new “Alma Lasers Accent Prime Body Sculpting Treatment” at the Banjara Hills facility of Dr. Sudha Vani’s Sri Skin & Cosmetology Centre.

I opted to go for “upper arms” treatment where I have sagging skin from weight loss.

I have undergone under arm laser hair removal, like 10 years back & knew what to expect. But still was slightly nervous, as I have no experience with body contouring treatments.

Once I was taken to the procedure room, I heard the radio playing and immediately relaxed – since it was not just going to be me, the aesthetician & the machine! The aestheticians were also very warm & friendly, we kept having casual chats to keep my mind off the “sculptor” at work & the heat its producing!

A quick consultation happened, where it was diagnosed that I do not have fat to break down in my upper arms, but only the skin needs to be tightened. So, only radio frequency was to be used in my treatment procedure.

Accent Prime uses ultrasound waves to break down fat cells under the skin and then radio frequency for skin tightening by stimulating the collagen production by the body in the given area.

The treatment started off with me lying on the bed with my arm held up in an upward stretch. Oil was applied on the area of treatment – whole of my upper arm & arm pits.

The Accent Prime hand piece used looked like a big massager head and the aesthetician moved it over my upper arm in rotating movements.

The treatment went on for 10 minutes for each arm, at the end of which my hands were sweaty and felt quite hot to touch. There were also times during the treatment when I felt the laser was a little too hot to bear and as I signal, the treatment was intermediately stopped and then continued once I felt better. Sometimes more oil was applied too, for smoother movement of the hand piece on the skin. The aestheticians kept checking my comfort level throughout the procedure.

Both before and after pictures were taken of my upper arm (that I am shy to share here!) and one could clearly see how much the sagging skin had tightened and my skin felt plump & healthy, not loose & dry.

I noticed moderate redness of the skin, which is normal post any laser treatment.

One sitting of Accent Prime can bring about 1-1.5 inch loss (varies for individuals) and the number of sittings required also depends on the individual’s body requirements.

I was prescribed 2 more sittings of Accent Prime to have my flabby arms fully tightened and in shape, that I no more need to be conscious to wear sleeveless clothes. I really look forward to it!

One is also advised to drink lots of water before and after the procedure, to help the body remove fat cells effectively and also boost collagen production.

WHERE DOES THE FAT GO?

Accent Prime targets subcutaneous fat – meaning fat deposit under the skin & over the muscle, which is resistant to diet & exercises. It can also target visceral fat, which is fat stored in the abdominal cavity – another stubborn fat that can be reduced with diet/exercise, but leaves flabby skin behind.

Ultrasound waves from Accent Prime target these fats and break down the fat cells. These are cleared through the lymphatic system – the body’s own drainage & fat clearance system!

HOW IS SKIN TIGHTENED?

The radio frequency used in Accent Prime can reach upto 25 mm deep in the skin and causes dermal heating. It causes rotation and friction in between water molecules present in the skin. The fibroblasts also get stimulated and hence there is a boost in collagen production, resulting ultimately in skin tightening.

Fibroblasts are tissues in the body that are responsible for collagen production. Collagen is an important factor in aging – less collagen means wrinkles, lines & sagging skin.

I was all excited about it as these days I’m focusing on my fitness the most and this was the best time to learn something new and eccentric. My Experience at TAF & Accent Prime

I reached there around 11 AM and was warmly welcomed by TAF founder Ms. Manisha Arora and had a great discussion and FAQ about weight management and body shaping with her and Accent Prime team. Lots of myths about weight loss were busted as well. The place was upbeat in ambiance and was filled with a lively aura. 


You might be wondering what exactly is TAF. It has a unique concept i.e when you reverse the word Fat, You get Taf and that’s the USP of the brand. They not just aim at weight loss but also stress management, good food good nutrition and becoming your best version.


Even if you’ve got a perfectly shaped body, you’ll have some imperfections here and there which you cover up beautifully but there’s no permanent way to get rid of it. TAF has installed Accent Prime machine by Alma Lasers which uses radiofrequency and ultrasound technologies to treat problems areas of fat in the body. After checking out their well lit and good smelling rooms, one of the bloggers went for a trial. She wanted to go for losing fat on arms. We also got to see the overall experience as she went through the ultrasound and radiofrequency treatment to get her arms toned.


I was intrigued as well and opted for MiniSpeed and UniBody treatment which targeted on fat in my arms. I went for the process and it wasn’t that complicated. The staff was very friendly and calmed me down as I went through the treatment. A hot steel-like handle was used and massaged on the arms to get rid of the fat. It took around 45-55 minutes for both arms and the result was very much noticeable. I lost few centimeters of fat in my tricep area and my skin definitely looked taut so this thing definitely works perfectly.
